((Occ// Alright my lovelys. this is the touching thread. Each candidate can go among the eggs and touch each of them. Picking your favorites [warning: that doesn't mean that's going to be your egg] and having fun. ALL candidates of the first batch MUST come here)) Lilliana and Mirrath had called the candidates here. It was time for them all to touch the eggs, feel them and get used to them. It was time to make sure they knew what they were doing. Eggs were starting to get ready to hatch. They were days away. And she was ready for it. Mirrath sat curled up just by the eggs, her pale green hide catching the sun. Her eyes a nice green.
Mirrath was protective of the eggs. She loved children, and yet she was a fighter. odd. Either way dragons were going to be born soon, and it was time to get ready for them. They were waiting for everyone to come.
The first candidate on the sands was Lokin. She needed to get this over with. The green off in the cornere made her jump, but she refused to look at the green. The first egg she touched was theFlower Egg, finding it fascinating. She knelt beside it and started to dig a small hole, helping it down and into the warm sands...

She followed the other candidates as they made their way to the hatching sands. She didn’t really know her way around the Weyr just yet, but kept quiet about it. Shyory liked to figure things out for herself, though the occasional nudge from someone else was helpful indeed, she was an independent girl no thanks to her nagging mother. Her wild auburn hair was tied that day and she hadn’t lost it since she had arrived at the Weyr, thanks only to the fact that her younger sister, Renory, wasn’t around. It was difficult to keep her stuff in tack back home because of her two sisters, Vayra and Renory, and especially the younger of the two. Renory had a short-temper like Shyory, but unlike her eldest sister, Renory liked to display her anger to anyone who happened to be around. At least Shyory tried to quell her own temper, however fruitless it was. She’d acquired many of her qualities from her mother, who had a temper like her two daughters; her father and Vayra were the only two who were mellow, though Vayra tended to lean towards the lazy side. Her aunt…well, her aunt was eccentric. How she had ended up with a sister like her mother was beyond Shyory, but it wasn’t something she intended to dwell on. She had been more concerned with why she’d been forced to live with two sisters in her family, finding it not uncommon when her thoughts strayed into her wishing she’d been the only child. She certainly wouldn’t have lost her stuff if she had no siblings to pester her.
Tucking a few strands of her hair behind her ear, the auburn haired girl stepped onto the hatching sands, the thin grain hot beneath her thin sandals, and gazed quietly at the pale green dragon and her rider before drawing her attention to the strange eggs displayed before her. Most of them had patterns on their hard shells, while some were mediocre at best, but she certainly didn’t think the dragons inside the eggs were unimpressive. The first candidate to step forward and touch the eggs was a light haired girl. She touched an egg with the pattern of tulips on its shell and it nudged Shyory to do the same. Not quite sure which egg to touch, Shyory went to the closest one, knelt down and stared at its brown surface. It was a pretty big egg with all the brown colors swirling together like the color of fresh soil. She slid the tip of her finger down the surface of the egg, making sure not to press to hard. It was warm against her creamy skin and she managed to pull out a smile. Well, at least she had the opportunity to touch a dragon egg, a rare thing for a girl like herself. She’d been a common seamstress back home and the babysitter when she wasn’t helping her mother and aunt. Now, she was here at a Weyr and surrounded by dragons.

With the summons for the Touching, Vivi couldn't help but grin and bounce up and down as she stood with the rest of the Candidates. This was it, another clutch on the Sands and another chance to Impress a dragonet. When the time came, Vivi moved with the other Candidates, but paused as she started to pass the Green that had clutched these hardening eggs. Slowly, so as not to frigthen or upset, she bowed to the Green. It was something her father had always told her; 'Be respectful,' he would say. 'Almost show the mother of the eggs that you will treat her young with respect and care.' As she lifted her head, she gazed up at the Green, before moving onto the Sands.
As she moved among the eggs, she could see that most were buried, but a few were still sticking out of the ground. There would be no favoritism from her, as the young Candidate had yet to become picky over which eggs she touched and which ones she didn't. Thusly, the first egg she bent down to Touch was the Good Soil Egg. It was a beautiful combination of all things brown, and with being the largest egg in the clutch, Vivi found herself kneeling before the egg and touching it in the middle, instead of at the top where no dragonet rested. Placing her palm against the egg, she welcomed the dragonet to the Weyr before standing. That was it. No promises of a wonderful life with her. No hopeful calling. These eggs were almost hardened enough, but that didn't mean they had made up their minds yet. No, they just needed to be welcomed, not pushed over to claim one or another.
With her greeting to the first egg done, she moved on to the next egg, finding herself kneeling before the Fire of Joy Egg. It was small little thing, with an interesting pattern. But like with the first one, Vivi simply welcomed the developing dragonet to the Weyr before standing once more. She repeated this process with the Becoming Light Egg, and the Bottom of the Pit Egg. There was a little pause at the Bottom of the Pit Egg, as Vivi found the pattern on the egg to be pretty, but as soon as she found herself pausing for more than a moment, she moved on once more.

Mirrath watched the three candidates, easily getting the thoughts of her being the mother from the last girl to arrive. She chuckled, a soft wuffing sound out loud. Then she touched the girls mind. I am no more their mother than you are Candidate. I am their acting mother, nothing more. Though the thought is kind. she said to the girl Lilly moving closer to her green to touch the large dragon’s neck. Isn’t that what you wanted my love? asked the woman. Only if they are truly mine. They are not of my blood though I will protect them as if they are. The blond harper is terrified of me. Wasn’t she one who lost her dragon to a bad flaming? asked the dragon to her rider privately.
Yes. Lokin. You knew Barkth. She was your sister. The green’s eye flashed gray for just a second, before going back to blue. Ah. Her. Well she diserves to fly. She’s strong. She’s a half of a whole, just like the other two. But I’m not fully sure about which egg is hers. said the green with a slight bob of her head.
The woman in question moved easily among the eggs. This she had done before. This was something easy for her, and she’d do it well. She watched the other girls, wondering if there would be any boys in this group… or would no Bronzes get their lords? (She knew of lady brown riders, or blue, and really only the Golds took JUST female. The bronzes were more prone towards their own gender)

Raelet stepped toward the hot Sands, sweat beading along his brow as he dipped his head to the Green that was watching over the Sands. It was heart breaking, loosing the mother of the clutch, but it was great that the Green was able to watch over it and keep things going. "Thank you beautiful Green, for keeping these eggs well," he dipped his head, "May I walk among the eggs and join in the Touching?" he questioned, eyes lifting to see the Green in all her glory.
Vivi ended up moving among the eggs, touching one here and there, until she had moved among more than half of the eggs and found herself spotting several other candidates were on the Sands also. How she missed them, she wasn't sure, but it had happened.

Xilan had been thrilled at the opportunity of not doing the chores and getting a chance to touch the eggs. He had been found for candidacy for a dragon egg and slowly followed the others out onto the sands. His boots protected his feet from the sands and then watched as others began to feel the egg. It did worry him in the fact that he might not ever impress and liive a life alone. His eyes wondered over the eggs he'd heard these we're the runts of the eggs and the other weyr.
He started to touch the eggs a little bit at a time till his eyes rested upon one in particular. Xilan walked over to a egg that had This egg is black, gray, gold, and bronze, with the gold and bronze at the bottom, and the white at the top. It was a large egg and he walked over to it putting a hand on it. His hope was to just impress and wondered what those colors would mean after the shock of the red dragon just a moment ago. THe candidate continued to stroke the egg and it made Xilan smile.
