X’lan and the silver dragon Carenath walked easily through the gather. Carenath was almost to big to fit, but he didn’t care. He wanted to walk with his. Mine I see the younger queen. And her’s Remi. X’lan smiled a bit as Carenath decided where they were going to go. The Healer boy was enjoying himself a bit. Not much. He kept feeling he should be back in the Healer’s tent helping. Though they had told him to GO. His father’s and twin were working hard, though his twin had refused to speak with him. Which bothered him. X’lan sighed as Carenath came up beside the gold. M’lady Mizenth. It’s a wonderful gather today isn’t it? asked the hansom silver. He was one of the only three, and the largest. He did like little Fayth, but he was just a tad arrogant. A big brother almost. Which was how he was presenting himself now. As the gold’s big brother.
X’lan sighed as he stepped up next to her, in well healer green, though it looked more like riding gear. ”Good day Weyrwoman. I’m sorry if Carenath is bothering your’s. He was insistant that we come over.” he said with a quick smile. His dark hair and eyes dreamy, though at seventeen he didn’t think much about it. He caught sight of one of the children he’d resently become a ‘dragon’ for. The little boy grinned at him, saw Remi, blushed and disappeared. He chuckled shaking his head slightly.

X’lan hadn’t expected anything besides a brown, or a blue. Carenath snorted with a bit of amusment. Yes. Yes it is. Though it does seem our twin siblings and theirs know more than ours. Do you think it’s because she was a rider before? That’s what I heard from mother mirrath. the silver was good at keeping a conversation going. So he could just jump easily.
X’lan chuckled. ”Silver Rider X’lan is no better. I keep expecting people to come tell me that I’m not a rider. Or a Lord for that matter. I have no idea how I became a lord.” he said with a chuckle. He understood. ”Though at least you have some say in how Lokin will run the weyr.” he knew lokin from Fort, when they’d been in Healer and Harper halls. He and one of his father’s had always been on hand to help heal her after on of her attempts to kill herself. He hadn’t seen any of the tendancy since the twins, but he was always worried.
”He. I expected a brown. Or maybe a blue. Not him.” he mused as carenath nuzzed his quickly before giving his attention back to the queen. X’lan chuckled. ”Barol is skiddish around everyone. And people see the biter, not the barker. Expecially after D’mar.” he said with a chuckle. He shrugged. ”It all depends Remi. I’d much rather be in the Healer tent, but my parents told me I had to go do something else. Apparently spending all my days with Carenath means I HAVE to have fun now.” he said with a slight grin.

Carenath nodded. Queen Athenath is sure of herself. As was obvious by the way she attacked Garnath. Though I do believe she made a good point there. And as far as I can tell, and what I keep hearing, Rider’s are sapposed to be able to keep us dragons in check. Doesn’t much seem like it now. he said, implying the dragons from the last hatching were smarter. And they were. Dianath isn’t so bad. Though she’s more like Garnath then I’d like to remember. He said thoughtfully. Many of the dragons went to him to talk (why he had no idea, but they did).
X’lan nodded. ”I’m a healer. What I do is heal. I don’t NEED to be out here, but it seems my family has decided their ‘wonderful rider son’ should do something besides heal.” He rolled his eyes. ”I’m into fun, just not when everyone obviously so wants me gone. It was weird.” he said simply. D’mar hadn’t really frightened the boy. To tell the truth, the self appointed body-guard V’riy of Bronze Morith scared him more. But that was a different problem.
”Sure. I’d love to.” he said with a smile. ”Oh… Well anything to do with music you’d think. Being a Harper and all.” he said softly. ”It’s probably a good idea. Keeping the queen dragons apart means it’s harder for D’mar and Galeth to corner all of you in one place.” he said thoughtfully. ”It’s not dumb. I’ve known her for a while, and I still get stuff for her… of course I don’t think she was coherent enough to realize it was ME giving her the art I did, but oh well.”
He laughed at her last words. ”Chomp? Your not that scary. I just think most people are holder’s and not used to living in harder ways.” he said simply.

I have faith that they will do what is needed for the weyr. After all, Dianath has been paying attention. It’s Athenath who seems to be plotting more than her larger sister. said the silver trying to be neutral. Though hard when another queen was saying what she was. And being so conserned. If mine is right, then once one of them rises the Weyrwoman may be able to think, and stop reacting, which will help them fit in better. And I’m sure Mizenth that you’ll be sure to help with that as well. said the silver, as he watched a large dragon over head. His wings flapped slightly, as if wanting to join the brown in flight.
X’lan smiled. ”My Twin isn’t so happy that I’m a rider and she’s not. It’s easier if I’m not around… Carenath is a badge of honor she’d rather me not have.” he said simply. Yes it hurt, but he was fine with it. Nothing could replace Carenath, and nothing ever would. He loved his twin, but it was time for the girl to wake up, and learn that Brother Xilan is no longer around to help.
”It’s fine. I grew up in a family with two men as parents and a twin sister. Try explaining anything that has to do with the female gender with three males around. I swear I don’t know how my parents raised us.” he said with a smirk. ”So talking about a little thing as to why they want me out and about is easy.” he said simply with a smirk.
”I only know Lady Lokin because of… the loss of her first dragon. But she’d like something interesting for say the harp. And she always loves duets. Though I do say that a good catch all is something about dragons.” the last part was said with a smirk. He wouldn’t spill Lokin’s secrets unless she’d TOLD the junior weyrwoman. Which he didn’t think she had. Not yet. She was still feeling like a hunted doe, and was having trouble figuring out where she stood. By the egg he hoped which ever bronze caught one of the twins was willing to let Lokin do what was needed. The woman had a good head on her shoulders, but she needed support.
”That one. It’s harp, it’s about dragons. And it’s mid-level. What she’ll never brag about is her ability to dance and her ability to play the harp. She’s good when you can coax it out of her. If her cousin, Kaycy was here, the Weyr would always her ONE of them playing.. But he’s back at Harper Hall at Fort, and she’s here.” he said musing the last part ot himself.
