”You really shouldn’t be doing that.” came a calm voice from behind a corner. A young boy had been attempting getting close to the pretty gold dragons he had seen flying just the other day, when the weyr had been in a uproar, and after wards his mother had told him it was a rising. Though she’d seemed worried. He turned around slowly to see the golds’ rider with her arms crossed. ”L-l-lady L-l-lokin! I-i-“ She cut him off softly. ”It’s alright. You just wanted to see Athenath and Dianath. You really should ask though.” He nodded.
”Please?” he asked softly. Her reaction was to nod and uncross her arms. Athenath had chosen one of the larger weyrs, probably because at least two dragons would be living in it. Lokin sighed as she lead the boy inside her weyr, where athenath was sleeping. Dianath’s head was up and she seemed to be talking to someone. ”Oh. They are beautiful. Can I stand for a hatching Lady Lokin? Please?” suddenly Dianath broke away from whome ever she was speaking with (a bronze), and looked at the boy. Suddenly her green eyes were locked on his own set of dark brown. His blond hair, and slight frame making him look rather willowy. She snorted softly on his hair. You will gain someone to your side. Mine make sure he’s at the hatchings. Though I’m not sure his is at my sister’s first hatching, he will claim a dragon. came the gold’s quick reply. She snorted softly and turned her attention back to the bronze.
”Well then. You’re a candidate. What’s your name?” she asked crouching to look at him better. ”R-Roland Lady. Is she right! I will get my own dragon?” he asked excited. He was quivering with it. The boy was twelve. So he had to chose something. Good thing Dianath was paying attention. She stood up. ”Come on Roland. We’ve got to get you to Lady Lilly. She’ll take care of you. As will her dragon Mirrath.” she said grabbing his hand. He grinned as he willingly went with. He bobbed his head as they walked. ”I know Lady mirrath. She told me she liked my voice. Do I have a good voice? Do you like my voice? I’m gonna have a dragon. I can’t wait to tell momma. Daddy will have to be proud of me now. He’s a rider you know. A blue rider. I want a blue. Or maybe a red. Or a bronze. A bronze would be cool. Though I think A silver would to. X’lan’s fun. So is Carenath. Did you know that Carenath promised I would get a firelizard! One of the golds that hangs around him is going to rise soon!” the boy was just babbling, and she let him as she lead the way to Green Rider Lilly’s quarters.
”Alright wait here. I’ll be right back.” she said simply, as she slipped inside. ”Ah. Lilly? We’ve got another candidate. Just searched by Dianath. Though he may be disappointed with the upcoming clutch. Um… His name is Roland.” she said softly. The brown haired woman looked up from her reading. ”Ah good. I’ll take him from here Weyrwoman.” And the older woman slipped past Lokin and by the time the weyrwoman was out the door Roland was chatting to the usually anti-social woman. Though Lokin personally thought that being the Candidate master was a good thing. It forced her to open up. Lokin found herself not knowing what to do. The Weyr had no problems right now. Thread wasn’t due to fall until autumn anyways. And Galeth and D’mar were hidden in their weyr. The new weyrleader was… somewhere. Probably getting used to his job, and she had nothing to do. At least for now. She wandered about the Weyrs just exploring.
