HAD’s
HAD’s can Hear All Dragons (Hence the name), but it goes deeper than that. They are almost like the dragons themselves. Not only do they hear and can speak to the dragons, they can feel their emotions (and their rider’s emotions through the dragon). This also means they can and do feel the pain when a dragon goes between forever. Often HAD’s are chosen late in their life (some even past the normal candidate age), and some are even ‘awakened’ as they are Impressed. They often impress more than just a dragon, often having a group of firelizards, whers, dragonets, and of course their dragon. Their ability’s often make them stand out, and are either shunned by their weyr or turned into a hero of sorts. Oddly enough it’s mainly females who are HADs, but males can be. They are all very calm people, who have a rather draconic outlook to life, though some wonder if that’s just because they are very close with all dragons. They are great in an emergency as they can contact any dragon at any time, without any trouble. Even a Gold or female Silver will listen to a HAD.
Traditionally one HAD will train another, but because not all weyrs or holds have more than one HAD, it’s not always possible. In Darkened Weyr we have one. Z’law of Silver Tarith. He hold’s minor lessons for all known HADs. There are a few ethics that people have to know. (These are all held OOC, unless otherwise stated.)
For HAD’s who are ‘awakened’ when they impress, only I the admin can give you the ok for that, and it will be random. There are a few things that come along with playing a HAD. You have to have enough Gems, and you have to be very active. By very active I mean, on at least once every two days, and always knowing what’s going on with the plot. HADs will always be called on when any dragon is hurt, or when any need to be in total control of any/all dragons. They are rare, and must be played well, so I can veto and pick and choose at my leisure.

- Don’t listen all the time. Dragons (and their riders) need privacy.
- Total Control of a Dragon only when asked to, never before.
- Listen to what the dragons tell you. They know more than what normal humans think.
- Your dragon is your sanctuary when a Death happens.
- Don’t loose yourself into Between. Just because dragons can go, doesn’t mean your mind alone can.

Empaths
Empaths can feel emotions of anyone, human or dragon. They are not generally chosen as Riders, but often when they impress this power is awakened. Often empaths are a bit meek, not wanting to upset anyone. They don’t have many ways to block. They are very compassionate people, and often become healers. They are not as rare as HADs, and are much easier to play (by my standards). Empath’s often have at least one ‘pet’ and have been known to have many.
Because there are more empaths than HADs, their list of ethics is pretty well known.
Empaths can either be born the way they are or any impression can wake this power up. Impressing anything WILL wake this up, but only I have the ability to choose who will gain that power. They aren’t as readily needed for any plot but they are useful in the fact that they can tell the truth of someone’s emotions, even if they lie (Plot Device Anyone?).

- Be careful what you read, you may interpret it wrong, so don’t assume.
- Be courteous at all times, never let your guard down.
- Loyalty is the key. Find one person to be loyal to, but use your head, not everyone’s an angel.
- All emotions are sacred, as is all life.
