The sun had set not too long ago, and the banks of the lake were still. No dragons were hear right now, only the occasional flit or dragonet desturbing the calm scene. A girl sat on a rock that jutted out into the water. She had a whet stone sitting next to her, as well as a set of knives that were waiting to be sharpened.
The girl looked out across the water, dipping her feet into the water. She swished her feet around a bit, sending ripples into the calm water. A large silver shape thudded up behind her, but the girl did not even notice. Hello, Sandrask. Did your hunting go well? The girls voice floated to the silver male's ear holes and he clicked in agreement. Yes, Sandrask's. Wherry was good.
Sandra finally turned her eyes on her friend, going over his blood covered muzzle and chest. She let out a soft chuckle and said,Come on. Your covered in blood. Let's get you cleaned up again. She stood up, sheding the blanket that she had wrapped around her shoulders. She leaned down, rolling up the legs of the breeches as high as they would go. She then followed her enthusiasic wher into the water.
The pebbled silver dove into the clear water with a splash, the water turning pink as it cleaned off some of the damp blood that clung to his scales. Sandra watched him swim about and play for a few moments before calling him back to her.As she began to rub her now wet hands over his breast, she thought about the last weeks hapenings.
She and her wher had been found by a Searchrider heading up the coast that evening. She and Sandrask had been living Holdless for almost a full turn together, traveling by night when the silver had grown up enough to be able to carry her. They had come with the rider, only because she thought it might be a good idea to live with people again...Have a roof over their heads, hot food in their bellies and not have to worry about being attacked during the day. Sandrask had settled into the Weyrlife very well, making friends with the other whers that lived here. He was by far going to be one of the largest, and his interesting hide set him appart from the others.
Sandra on the other had was having difficulty settling down. She generally steered clear of people and was outside by herself during the daylight hours that she was awake. She had been given a room in the candidate barracks with Sandrask, but she did not feel all that comfortable there eather. She longed for the open sea and the wilderness. She felt so boxed in here and that made her want to just leave. Knowing that that was impossible, she just lived day to day, keeping to herself and Sandrask.
